IBM used 8" floppies to load control code for the fixed-head disk, load microcode on the 370/145 and run diagnostics on the 370/155; I don't recall whether the used it to load compatibility microcode on the 370/165. IBM continued to ude that form factor for a long time.

I just found information in some book that IBM mainframes used 12 inch floppy diskettes. Late 70's. Anybody heard about such diskettes? -- Radoslaw Skorupka Lodz, Poland ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
