My £0.02-worth: Microsoft has a way to check and certify device drivers and Clownstrike should have used this.
Assuming they did, then I think MS also let everyone down by failing to flag the mad ability to run arbitrary script code from the (ring 0) driver. To be frank, in my mind it's a 'just make it work' attitude I blame, one that bas been prevalent ever since the first PC soiled its first nappy (diaper), around the years that MVS+RACF had already achieved MOD (DOD?) approval from memory. Sure, the old-fashioned IBM way of doing things was a bit square and boring for the go-getters, but there's the saying "If you think getting things right is expensive, try getting them wrong!". Someone pointed out that the CEO at Cloudstrike presided over a previous update that broke things in a big way, when he was CEO at a different company. Is that right? If so, it's shame that experience didn't transfer with him. Roops On Fri, 19 Jul 2024, 16:36 Schmitt, Michael, <[email protected]> wrote: > The impact is larger than just Microsoft's cloud.
