Well, you need to define the switches plus the DASD. You must define the switch device/control unit the DASD will connect to. I don't recall the switch type you would use. I haven't done an IODF with switches in a while. Bottom line the DASD has its control unit, devices and channel interfaces plus you have to have a separate definition for the switch which has its control unit and ports.
CBDG061I Switch control unit must be defined for switch switch_id. Explanation A switch control unit must be defined for the indicated switch. The switch control unit is used to communicate with the switch and must have a special control unit type. System action System waits for user action. User response Specify the switch control unit and connect it to the switch control unit port. Programmer response None. Reason: When you work with HCD you define something which may or may not be close to your physical setup. Just imagine you have four z16 machines and dozen of D8K dasd boxes. And huge FICON directors. You can work with such definitions, however it cannot be activated without the equipment. But in your case the HCD warns you the definitions are simply wrong. It doesn't matter whether your hardware is real or emulated. -- Radoslaw Skorupka Lodz, Poland W dniu 23.09.2024 o 21:39, Binyamin Dissen pisze: > I am trying to define what is needed to support a DS8* on a zPDT (no, the > hardware will never be connected - just to try to simulate an issue). > > I read the manuals and it appears that switches and control units must be > defined (used 2107-IBM).
