Lennie, There is a bit in the format 1 DSCB for each data set on a volume (DS1ENCRP) that is ON if that data set is encrypted. You can interrogate that bit to see if the corresponding data set is encrypted without opening the data set. Using that bit, we report on the encryption status of each data set on a volume in our DASD DSLIST report.
