If you have IBM Fault Analyzer you get MVS (and IMS et al) message lookup for free*.
The lookup works anywhere in ISPF: - LOOKC looks up word at current cursor position - LOOKUP code: displays info for that code - LOOKUP with no parms displays a contents and search panel * aside from cost of IBM Fault Analyzer -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Stefan Lezzi Sent: Wednesday, October 30, 2024 9:26 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Free-to-use database of (MVS) messages Hello Allan, Thanks for your answer! We have QuickRef, but it is frozen at the age of z/OS 2.1. My (ex-)company desperately wanted to save money :-) Because you mentioned LOOKAT, I googled it and found its successor: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-z-look-content-search-multi-product-edition It's a simple search front-end to the official IBM documentation. Searching for IXG210E generates the intitle:IXG210E search string that finds the message. But when I try a generic search like IXG, IXG*, IXG%, or IXG___E, it doesn't provide meaningful results. Maybe it works differently? I would also like to have access to a database where I could retrieve the message IDs and a brief message description (or the message "template"). I know that's probably too much in demand in a declining mainframe world :-) By the way: QuickRef is a great product.
