Don’t forget the built-in script language no one likes – powershell.  And 
VBScript, almost as bad.

Not being allowed to write or save *.bat scripts is highly unusual in my 
experience.  Sounds like it is directed at non-programmers (who probably should 
be protected from themselves), but it also caught programmers in the trap and 
we need to use such tools nearly every day (as least I do).

What happens if they save a script file as *.cmd as opposed to *.bat?

What about other scripting languages?  Does Windows

support bash nowadays?  Maybe under cygwin, but I'd

hardly expect that to be allowed.



What about Word macros?  They (used to) be notorious

for integrity exposures.



I once tried to make a symbolic link with mklink.  Failed

because it demanded admin authority.  Never found out

why.  No similar restriction in POSIX.
