We are talking about SMF. It's a kind of log, a bunch of records. While
it's very good (sometimes crucial) to have all of the records, sometimes
we lose one of the billions of records and it is still better to have
"all of them"-1 (or few more) than nothing.
VB or FB is not immune, but there is kind f failure which is specific to
VBS, because only VBS can have lost segments. So, only VBS can be fixed
(by substraction incomplete record).
Last, but not least: GB of random bits is not broken VBS file, as bunch
of random letters is very unlikely to form a Hamlet.
