and I must agree. Even if IBM has documented something without also
specifying that it is a supported programming interface, it may well,
probably will, change.

No one who uses a conjecture (based upon black-box experimentation)
about how some piece of IBM code works has any right to complain when
its behavior changes.  That said, such conjectures are often necessary
in this OCO era, and the notion that they and code embodying them can
always be avoided is without merit.  They cannot.

What can be avoided are whining complaints about such changes.
