And just because it is worthwhile doesn't mean that they will deploy it in a 
worthwhile fashion.

Just because companies are spending billions of dollars doesn't mean a 
technology will work or is even worthwhile.  The highway to distributed systems 
is paved with money from failed projects to get off of the mainframe.

We had the same situation in the 90's and called it "management by airline 
magazine."
