I used to ZAP a better BLKSIZE into a copy of the XMIT binary (it had to be
refitted with every new z/OS release), but nowadays I don't care anymore. I
still use XMIT to backup PDS/PDSE data sets and to prepare them for easy sftp
transfer as needed,
RECEIVE is used to restore a PDS/PDSE dataset, and then one can recover
individual members with no sweat.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or concerns!

Thank You!

SFTP is essentially FTP.

You didn't notice that the OP is not using TSO XMIT to transmit files. Today,
it's used as an alternative to IBMTERSE. It's time for a rewrite that allows it
to be functional in today's world.
