It was Token-Ring of course, but you can still bridge/route Token-Ring traffic if you need to. To my knowledge the subsequent 3891/XP (marketed for a little over half a decade) didn't even have a direct channel attachment option. You attached the 3891/XP via Token-Ring or SDLC.
