And I think it should have been Return "SUPPRESS"
Not Return "DELETE" Lizette -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:IBM-MAIN@LISTSERV.UA.EDU] On Behalf Of Lizette Koehler Sent: Thursday, October 10, 2013 6:50 AM To: IBM-MAIN@LISTSERV.UA.EDU Subject: Re: IC988I messages issued by CA-SPOOL In easy rule you can set several suppression. Suppress from Console, Suppress from Syslog And so forth. Do you want only console, syslog or both? Second thing you can do is go to OPSBROWSE (Option 1) and filter on IEC988I. Put your cursor on the IEC988I and see what OPS/MVS sees and what it will due. There is a section called RULET.SET and it should show your MSG.IEC988I. If that is there and you are still seeing it, I would probably open a case to CA OPS/MVS. They have always been very helpful to me when crafting rules. I added a trace command to the rule, and it is definitely being used. Could you explain how you set it ? A message rule in OPS/MVS is very simple and should always work. For example: )MSG IEC988I )PROC Job = msg.ojobname If Job = 'CASPOOL' Then Some action (This is typically resetting the Route or Descriptor Codes) Or if you use EASY RULE to create the IEC998I messages the panels will guide you through suppressing a message. Sent: Thursday, October 10, 2013 12:45 AM To: IBM-MAIN@LISTSERV.UA.EDU Subject: IC988I messages issued by CA-SPOOL Hi, Since upgrading to z/OS 1.13 (our previous version was 1.11), We're receiving many IEC988I messages issued by CA-SPOOL (v11.7). The response from CA was that there was a change made in z/OS 1.12, and this message occurs because CA-SPOOL is attempting to close a library that is still allocated to CA-SPOOL. The libraries in question are PSF resource libraries (PAGEDEF, FORMDEF or OGL libraries) that are allocated to the CA-SPOOL started task, but are also referenced by the USERLIB parameter in specific jobs. An example of the message is: IEC988I CASPOOL2,CASPOOL2,SYS00102,081E,PUB001,N641.PCCA.ENDV.PAGEDEF.PDEFLIB DATA SET NOT UNALLOCATED DURING CLOSE RC 03 The message is displayed in the system log, and in the STC's JESMSGLG and JESYSMSG spool files. CA suggested we use OPS to suppress the messages. This did not work. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to suppress these messages?
