Ron:
The only way that I am aware of saving in Rexx is if there is a lot of
computations. The I/O using compiled Rexx is the same as the interpreted
version. I have written in Rexx since 1984 ...haven't had to use the compiler
yet. But I am not a math head ...or someone that requires a ton of math
functions.

When we started with AOC the advice from IBM was to also get the REXX compiler
and Library products to reduce the CPU usage of AOC.
Program Number 5695014 IBM Library for REXX zSeries
Program Number 5695013 IBM Compiler for REXX/370
Till now we still use these products in our System Automation 3.4 and Netview
6.1 environments to compile all the IBM  supplied and our own created SA REXX
programs.

But times changes and my question is if it is still a recommendation to use
these products or are SA and Netview changed so much that the use of these
products are a lot less profitable than in the past and might be obsolete in
that matter. Use of these products besides SA en Netview is rare in our
company. First indications are that if SA consumption doubles if not using the
compiler/library we still earn money not heaving these products.

In other words are there companies still using the REXX library and compiler in
the SA and Netview environments to reduce costs?
