I forgot to also mention that the entire tasks output is also available through one of our other products (SyzSPOOL/z) which does the spool management (i.e. offload jobs and let users access them from TSO or the Internet). One of the "marketing" options that was built-in was to provide the user with a link to the entire tasks output via this new utility so that they could (if desired) click on that link and access the output to see the whole thing. Currently in this version, it provides a link, but it's just to SyzSPOOL/z's web access point, not to the specific task's output. (it's not hard to put them together, I just have not fully completed that part yet)
So, in effect, this product (SyzMAIL/z) would automatically extend the task ended message that normally goes to the NOTIFY user via TSO to also sending that notification to anyone (or a group of anyones) via email or SMS text. The point that the marketing people here are trying to make is that if the external user wants to have the detail information, they can just click on the link and be taken to the job's output via SyzSPOOL/z, but that assumes that A) the site has licensed SyzSPOOL/z, and B), that they have elected to have SyzSPOOL/z manage the output as soon as the task completes. From a marketing standpoint I think they want everyone to license the $5K SyzSPOOL/z product, just to get the full use of the much cheaper SyzMAIL/z product. They see SyzMAIL/z as merely an "add-on" to the other products (sSyzMPF/z, SyzCMD/z, and SyzSPOOL/z) instead of a complete product on it's own. I understand the marketing behind that, but I disagree with crippling a product, just to sell another one. If someone wants to look at the output, I can see providing them with the SyzSPOOL/z link, but if you want to view the output, it's because you have an interest in something, not just to get the execution statistics.
