DMARC, like the traffic engineer's no-left-turn sign, solves one putative problem by creating many others elsewhere.
The issue here is not really a technical one. Yahoo and its cohorts are guilty of radical failures in judgment and taste, just the sort of thing to be expected from people who use subliterate synonyms for 'conformity' like 'conformance'. (This wholly dispensable non-word got into circulation in HTML and XHTML documents, from which it has infected others. A 'pro-active' policy that kills it is needed urgently.)
