There's nothing like high-tech as perceived by the masses. I remember when high-tech card sorters were used at carnival sideshows by fortune tellers and weight guessers.
Card Sorters were also used for criminal record lookups on the old Dragnet Show along with spinning tapes. Many shows in that era had spinning tapes for computers (as well as blinking lights).
