I can remember the two of us being in a z/OS architecture talk at Share in 2004
and this was a topic of discussion back then.
It was something that sensibly had to be accommodated - no promises, but
"maybe".
I remember that well. Craddock and Bob Rogers were dead set against the
idea - arguing that explicit HV memory sharing would be a better
architectural direction than HV common, but were eventually overruled by
Elpida and others within IBM who were dealing with the practicalities of
trying to convert existing code from 31-bit to 64-bit...
