But I think it's fair in a sense to call ISPF the GUI enhancement above the
TSO "READY" prompt.  Granted, it's character cell graphics, not raster, but
it has point-and-shoot, drop-down menus, tabbing between input fields,
...; not found in a command line interface.  And its welcomed; even I use
it, punctuated with occasional complaints.

But, yes, on my first exposure to UNIX (SunOS), I began using the SunOS
graphic editor.  Or FTP to CMS; XEDIT; FTP back.  Until I discovered I could
work faster with vi.

Full screen CMS, in contrast, is not much accepted.  I had one co-worker
who used it.  But he retired; not before I needed to alter some of my
scripted commands to disable fullscreen to make them work.  ISPF for
CMS?  The less said, the better.
