Heh. When I hired on here, they were just into year 3 of a "5-year plan to get
off the mainframe". They were running MVS/ESA 4.x on a 12-way Amdahl 5997.
That was early in 1998, and the plan was to be "mainframe-free by Y2K".

Now we run z/OS 1.13, z/VM 6.2 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3 and 6.5 on a
pair of z114s, and continue to add workload to them. Our z/OS workload is
predominantly COBOL, CICS and DB2, and we're upgrading Enterprise COBOL from
v4.2 to v5.1; still a couple "toe-stubbers" to resolve there.
