How many of these old 3480 datasets are there? If only a small number, so long as you know the dataset names you can do the scratch and define for them. There are also programs that can read the catalog and output IDCAMS command statements. Using one you can create the needed defines and alter (3480) to (3490) in them. These statements can also be modified to make them the needed delete commands. I used to do this by making them macro calls and then assemble to output via the PUNCH command the needed IDCAMS commands.
