Having gone through this exercise from scratch on an ADCD system about 2 years ago, I can say that setting up HSM is not all that hard. Admittedly, I only set it up for migration (and not for backup). I also used the starter set and then went over all the parms that there are to see if they apply to me. The problem with the starter set is that it references defined storage classes, storage groups and management classes and it alludes to ACS routines, but it does not show the ACS routines, so *that* took me a while without a good example to start from.
