Our DB2 datasets are in different catalogs and users dsn are in other catalogs. But the different DB2 subsystems are sharing the same catalogs for same type of datasets. For example, VSAM datasets have their own set of catalogs. Just with paging datasets, we spread out the workload on catalogs. No performance issues there. About those gazillion DB2 logs, we have automatic procedures to handle them.
