If you set AUTOSAVE OFF, you can prevent the accidental alteration of 
your file too. That's the way I always use the ISPF editor. It means I 
have to issue a SAVE command to save my changes, but I prefer that.

Also, if you use VIEW, you can use Gilbert's VSAVE edit macro to save 
any changes.
