A quick google search yielded a link to IBM albeit to a manual for z/os 1.12, https://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSLTBW_1.12.0/com.ibm.zos.r12.e0zb100/osproc.htm%23prosto and I'm sure the appropriate doc for current versions are available too, finds the following:
The minimum amount of real storage required to IPL z/OS depends on a number of factors, including the number of devices in the I/O configuration, the amount of storage configured, the number of address spaces created, the types of applications supported, and the products and subsystems supported in the IPLed system. In IPL studies at IBM, 128 MB of real storage was the minimum amount required to IPL z/OS V1R11, z/OS V1R10, and z/OS V1R9. The systems in the studies were IPLed to the point of completing JES2 initialization. The systems had I/O configurations defined with the following devices: | |•20704 direct access devices (DASDs) |•32 graphics devices |•982 channel-to-channel (CTC) connections 40 tape drives _________________________________________________________________ Dave Jousma Assistant Vice President, Mainframe Engineering [email protected] 1830 East Paris, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 MD RSCB2H p 616.653.8429 f 616.653.2717 -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Peter Sent: Friday, December 11, 2015 10:28 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Memory for z/OS 2.1 Hi, Is there any cover letter from IBM on the minimal requirement to run z/OS 2.1 ?
