Adding memory dynamically with no outage in the z10 generation depended if you were a multibook machine, and the available memory on the books to take a complete book out of service while the memory was added to it.

We were told by IBM that we couldn't add memory, with our without downtime to the z10. In fact, we were warned by a number of people, both inside and outside IBM not to do that. It's why we went to the z12. I concur with Kees if you really can get memory and if it's already defined and reserved in your profile, then it's just a matter of activating it. Same as with a CPU.
