I think you're going to need to show the code. It is unclear to me what you are doing, and why you are doing it, and what outcome you expect.
Which compiler are you using? If you have an active exit which prevents you reading a single volume from a multi-volume dataset, I strongly doubt that you will be able to simply use BLP.
