Yes, I connect directly through TCP/IP. I guess with VM you don't have
to expose TCP/IP or setup a VPN. Also your TCP/IP may not be protected
by TLS, whereas the VM connection is.
VM is very handy when you break TCP/IP trying to set up TLS, I have
discovered...
