At my previous employer, in 2014, we had EAVs (the smaller ones), and we had 
some troubles with some software products. Not because of the size but because 
of the fact they had to deal with data ser on EAV volumes. The error did not at 
all pont to EAV, but was just stange abends (can't remember the details, 
sorry). For one product (CA Spool), it turned out that it was written with 
SAS/C (?) and this runtiem could not cope with data sets on EAV. CA fixed this.


I do not want to imply these errors still exist. Just wanted to make you aware 
that if you happen to see strange behaviour, think about moving data sets off 
EAV and see if that helps.
