I tried with J8.0_64 and J7.1_64, same effect.
I set ASSIZEMAX at 2G, huge TSO region. No effect
When I invoke 31-bit java I get typical:

Any clue?

makes me wonder if your "ulimit" values in UNIX are too small.

ASSIZEMAX in BPXPRMxx is 2G
MAXASSIZE in my OMVS segment is not specifed => BPXPRMxx value is honored
TSO REGION is 200 000 KB, which is really close to total limit (AFAIK
2GiB-1MiB)
Unfortunately my Japanese is as bad as my Korean ;-)
