This is what I had suspected. So I guess now the question becomes, will IBM provide me these files if I have a service contract and/or pay them large sums of money.
I guess I'll have to wait and see what their support says; although the one I talked to yesterday seemed to suggest that I can't get a support contract until the machine works, which makes zero sense...unsure if this is true on not...I'll have to see what they say today now that they have a serial number. ________________________________________ From: Parwez Hamid <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, February 22, 2017 10:22 To: [email protected]; Jim Stefanik Subject: Re: S/390 G6 SE Driver Disk You have a number of potential issues. Apart from the base SE code you need the License Internal Code for the configuration of the System e.g. even though the max number of CPs available was 12 with 'restrictions' for 1 and 2-way systems (Turbo and non-Turbo models), IBM only 'enabled' the number of CPs the customer paid for. The second issue if that for a successful POR of the system you need the correct Vital Product Data file (this is the actual config of the system e.g. number and types of I/O features, amount of memory etc etc). I believe, both these 'files' are associated to a serial number. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
