Are you saying that attempting to change the password with the RACF panels fails but using ALU with the same password and options succeeds? Do you have a password validation exit? Can you show us your password rules and the panel data (use X, x, 1, and $ as appropriate for the password)? Ditto for the ALU command. Can you show us the password section of the LU output?
In what way did the original password fail? Does the new password not work in the same way?
