But as you wrote, it also depends on the software accessing the data. I was 
involved in installing a new product which abended in a stange way. It turned 
out it was because one of the configuration data set (I think a PS) was  in the 
EAS space, and the software was using some elder C based framework to read the 
data. That framework did not support data sets in EAS.
