I've been using different variation of that exit for years, first I have to ask; are your dumps going to tape? if so is your tape mgmt subsystem activate before the dumpsmf? I guess you could if there was a real need to dump SMF before anything else runs you could add a SUB=MSTR to the start command in the exit but our current process for dumping waits for 1) tape mgmt to be active, and 2) the OAM address space, (virtual tape servers) to be active, automation take care of any outstand WTOR's for allocation recovery if the dump runs before the tape drive are available

It works well but there is one issue. IEFU29 cannot issue a START command during an IPL because the SMF subsystem comes up before JES2. There is code in the exit that looks to see if JES2 is active. If it is not, the exit terminates. For those of you who use IEFU29, have you found a work-around for this problem? Thank you.
