Gil,

Sure he can use Blksize of  32760 which would cover all LRECL of Type V 
files.  I think OP eventually did use LRECL=512,BLKSIZE=32760

I suspect the 290 is a fiction, invented by ISPF.

Why not BLKSIZE=32760?
