Howdy, Steve. I, too, as a student at TAMU in the early to mid 70s and what I remember was that it was an Amdahl 470/V6 that was delivered to the DPC (Data Processing Center, we Aggies are very literal about a lot of things). The day it arrived and was set up in the machine room, replacing the old IBM S/360-65, the center's director was none too pleased about the burnt orange skin color. He had the Amdahl CEs take the covers off, and out to the parking lot, where they were repainted Maroon with spray cans of Rust-Oleum from the local hardware store.
