OSA/SF doesn't work with the newer OSA and mainframe hardware. Can't remember if it stopped with OSA-E4 or OSA-E5.
These functions moved from OSA/SF to the hardware console instead. Around the same time the z/OS D TCPIP,,OSAINFO command was introduced to replace (most of) the OSA/SF display functions. You need 1 OSAD per CHPID, in other words 1 OSAD per two ports. Caution: you wrote about 2 CHPID per card. It is NOT true for many years, that means OSA-Express6s, 5s and 4s have 1 CHPID per card. The last card with two CHPIDs per card was OSA-Express3, the long one, for older I/O Cage or I/O Drawer. It was standard feature of z196, newer machines could use it as Carry Forward only. -- Radoslaw Skorupka Lodz, Poland This e-mail and any attachments are confidential and intended solely for the addressee and may also be privileged or exempt from disclosure under applicable law.
