Long ago, before I was aware of the greatest difference between English and American (i.e. how you say 'Z'), I was on the phone with a Brit for 15 minutes while he tried to spell me something like X45ZZC3PO. I think we finally resorted to some ad-hoc phonetic alphabet. :-)
