Many years ago when Converting a DDA system from Burroughs to IBM, Burroughs packed fields had the annoying habit of putting the sign at the beginning of the field....instead of the end of the field like IBM. Made for pages and pages of "Move with Offsets" in the Assembler programs....Cobol didn’t care for it at all.
