All, I submitted RFE quite some time ago (and kinda forgot about it). Here is the details. I'd appreciate comments/votes, etc. I've also opened at the request of IBM, a requirement on the SHARE database in RFE-MVSS (175). Description: Would like the ability to allow/deny certain IDCAMS functions via PARMLIB/SAF, etc. Specifically, we want the ability to allow/disallow the use of the ERASE keyword on DELETE. There could be other parameters that could use the same process if it were available. Use case: General use of ERASE has caused us I/O performance problems when coded on very large VSAM clusters (think DB2), where there files are reorged often (delete/define). Business justification: We have had production interactive transaction processing systems experience extreme performance issues that after the analysis was determined to be caused by adjacent volumes on the same control unit being blocked while the DASD backend was writing the binary zeros to these data locations.
