Not sure what "several models of 3380" has to do with me. We had 3380-D drives and the room was full of them so we didn't have room to add more. Once we did start replacing them, we went to the 9343 subsystem and bought lots of floor space back. Also, my comment was for my pre-3380 days when the drives were 10-25 MB per volume and I didn't say we only saved 1 byte per track. My words were "every byte saved per record".
