All z's run in LPAR mode - no more basic mode. Can't mix IFLs with CPs in same LPAR. Let me look in the a.m. for an IOCP. Won't be short and sweet. I recommend that z/VM owns the IOCDS token so you can use dynamic I/O. We have 15 LPARs defined with dynamic I/O and have reduced the need for Power-on-Resets substantially.

Hello list,
Being a VMer from way back, I have always managed not to have to use
LPARs, ever!
Now I'm faced with a particular dilema. I wan't to add a couple of IFLs
to my z800, but as I understand it, these IFLs will have to exist in
their own separate LPAR away from my two regular CPs. It will also
require me to run a second zVM in the new LPAR.
If that is correct, I can accept it. I was wondering if anyone has a
short, simple and sweet IOCP that I can look at that could possibly be
similiar to what I'm mentioning. Two LPARS, one with the regular CPs,
the other with the IFLs. Examples of how to share the DASD and OSA
would be apprectiated. Will I need a second control unit for the second
VM console?

Hopefully, the list can get me "jump started". Thanks!
