The settings in SYSTEM CONFIG are read only at IPL time. CP will look
for the most recent defiintion that has passed and set the tz to that.
You can dynamically issue the SET TIMEZONE EDT command this Sunday at 2
a.m. to accomplish it as well. Virtual machines that have requested the
tz signal will handle the change quite well. The IBM supplied SFS
servers, for example deal with this well.
I have coded a simple entry in a WAKEUP times file to issue the SET
TIMEZONE EDT dynamically on all LPARs at one client. SET TIMEZONE
requires CP class A, C, or E.
If you have lovely linux guests they automatically adjust the time. They
do not and should not receive the timezone signal.
