I'm not sure you could call this a "supported" solution, Jim, but VMARC:
1) does support compression
2) allows duplicate file names inside an VMARC file
3) comes with the S/390 assembler source, so there is at least a chance
of fixing a problem in the future.
I do agree, though that FCOPY is a really nice tool, and having part of
CMS tools would be a good thing.
