Ed, In my rush that one escaped me. Having spent nearly 10 years looking after an X.25 networking package written almost entirely in Fortran 77 I should have got that one. I guess that it proves two things. Firstly that if pushed you can use almost any language to do any thing (in those days there were many machines without a "C" compiler). If we could write what we did in Fortran I am sure that you could do it Visual Basic. However it worked because we followed standards and had good documentation.
