Richard, SFS takes an automatic control data backup whenever the log disks reach 80% full. You can also initiate one manually with the FILEPOOL CONTROL BACKUP command. Make sure your log disks are large enough to prevent unscheduled backups, and then schedule a FILEPOOL CONTROL BACKUP for a time when your users aren't testing.

These users all access the same directory R/O. The directory is DIRC. The question is, will assigning this directory to a dataspace have a positive effect on the response times, or will a Control data Backup still interfere (assuming that the LUW suspension was the problem)? If that is not likely to help, is there any way to prevent LUW suspension during these critical tests?
