Perhaps one step toward buying more time would be to set one or more 
thresholds above which new logons are resticted to definable groups of 

userids.  (eg. at xx% only non-class G users can logon, at yy% only users
 
with some special directory OPTION can logon, at zz% only OPERATOR and 

MAINT can logon.)

Not sure if it would work, but perhaps another possible step toward buyin
g 
time could involve somehow changing the dispatching of logged on userids 

in order to slow the growth of page space utilization.
