Results are unpredictable if you use DDR to copy data from one minidisk to
another minidisk unequal in size (for example, the output disk contains
fewer cylinders or blocks than the input disk).

Use the REORDER option to copy or restore a minidisk to another area.

DDR is dependant oh device types from 3330 -- to 33anything and some
statements are not true for ALL devices.. you have to read the book..

I think that when you use DDR you have to think PHYSICAL disk, since DDR
does not have a concept of minidisk. That said it stands to reason that
whenever you copy from one PHYSICAL disk address ie CYL 0 to a different
PHYSICAL disk address ie CYL 1 you must use the reorder option.

DDR copies very low level data ie H0 R0 record.

Do you have to use reorder, or does CP DEFINE MDISK work well enough? I
use DEFINE MDISK habitually, but I don't remember ever explicitly using
reorder. It may be that I always defined my source minidisk as starting
at cyl 0 going for 3338, and my target as 1 for 3338 though. I haven't
actually needed to do it in a while.
