Kris, while your solution is elagant, it seems like overkill for Derek's
problem.
Assuming that:
1) DIRMAINT is up and running,
2) Derek knows the Fn Ft of the file to be erased. and
3) The userid Derek is using has the proper authorizations.
Then I would simply have him do:
DIRM CMS ERASE Fn Ft A
