If understand what you're saying here is that you are trying to use the
real address as input to the DDR. Add a full pack minidisk definition to
the directory (take a look at MAINT 123, though I'd suggest making the
mode RR). Then use the virtual address as input to the DDR.

Subject: z/VM Installation from DVD

I need a short lesson on backing up DASD volumes using DDR.

I've added four 3390 volumes to my z/VM configuration and have formatted
numerous mini disks on them. I would like to get a full backup of these
4 volumes using DDR. However, when I run DDR, and supply the input
address of these volumes, I get a message: HCPDDR704E DEVICE xxxx NOT
OPERATIONAL. I've tried running DDR under MAINT & OPERATNS and get the
same message. Is there something I have to do with these volumes in
order for DDR to see them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...Chris (z/VM newbie)
