Dear colleagues:
I am entirely in favor of whatever model best addresses the need to
support ongoing useful discussion, either in this forum or any other
venue. As members of the VM community, we are all ultimately dining at
the same table.
The list configuration for IBMVM is set to disallow attachments partly
as a spam / virus / malware mitigation measure, partly to help maintain
a favorable "signal to noise ratio" for list content, and partly as a
courtesy to our hosts at the University of Arkansas by way of minimizing
the resource demands we impose on their facilities. Even if a choice
were made to enable attachment processing for the list, some of our
members participate via systems and methods which do not allow them to
receive attachments.
That being stated, please bear in mind that Operations Manager
configuration files, as well as those for pretty much any other z/VM
related product, are plain-text "flat" files, easily inserted into
e-mail via cut-and-paste operations.
If it would be genuinely useful to provide a mechanism where files could
be posted and shared for reference, either for the topic at hand or for
other z/VM related needs, I may be able to obtain resources to address
the need. I would prefer not to dilute the value of the resource
available on the IBM-provided "VM Download" page at
http://www.vm.ibm.com/download/ -- there's no reason to fiddle with a
well-known working resource.
I would welcome your comments, positive or otherwise, via e-mail at
either [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED], or via open
discussion on this list.
Kind regards,
-dan.

Apologies if this has already been hashed out in the non-Digest

The only reason is that you can post files in that forum and it is a
focused place for them. Not to detract from this listserv - it was
just a thought to keep everything in one place for
issues/questions/mutual support and for files.
